Training the Trainers workshop
The Training the Trainers Workshop "Learn to teach money matters" is a five day intensive workshop to learn how to teach money matters efficiently and in a fun way and gives an overview of
’s training programmes. It aims at giving teachers, social workers or any potential trainers the tools and confidence to train on the following topics:
- Spending
- Managing debt
- Earning
- Saving
- Planning
In this highly interactive workshop, participants will:
- Understand why basic financial literacy is important,
- Grasp the challenges of teaching finance,
- Learn how to teach financial concepts through
“Money” packages for adults and young people, - Attend a training sample run by an
trainer - Practice facilitating in front of a friendly audience,
- Identify how to adapt the training standard kits to their own students’ needs,
- Write an implementation plan for their own organisation
- Assess how to evaluate the impact of their financial education project.

- Day 1:
- What is financial literacy?
- What are the challenges and specificities of teaching finance?
- How to teach finance efficiently?
- Demonstration of a training module with Enfants du Mekong students
- Day 2:
- Overview of
training material

- Identifying specific financial education needs
- Adapting
training material to specific needs
- Day 3:
- Preparing practicing session
- Practicing (first part): participants facilitate an adapted module in front of the other participants.
- Day 4:
- Practicing (second part)
- Evaluation and review: the challenges to implement a financial education programme
- Day 5 (half day):
- How to measure the results of a training programme?
- Writing implementation plans
- Getting to know our online tools and follow-up
- Wrap up: conclusion and certificates
To make this workshop as effective as possible, the participants are required to thoroughly read the
training material which will be sent before the workshop. This course is open to non profitable organisations who are committed to train the people they support to better manage money and willing to work with the a + b = 3 team to monitor the implementation and impact of financial education. The workshop is followed by coaching and online resources and supplementary training to help organisations implement their training programme.
