Children Programmes:

Adventures at Money Park™

is a 10 hour first level course on money matters for 6 to 8 year old children. This course can fit in a school term. The course includes a handout for children with most of exercises done during the class and tips to share with their parents on how to practise money knowledge.

Session 1: Where does this money come from? In this first session, the children start exploring the “Money Park” and learn about the do’s and don’ts of money, the currencies, the exchange rates and how to change money.

Session 2: How much have we got? In this second session, the children get ready to go to the Money Park™ and learn about the cents and dollars, how to count money and what “giving change” means (having more coins does not make you richer!). They also learn why money was invented!

Session 3: Let’s go shopping! In this third session, the children start exploring the “Money Park” and go shopping in the amusement park shops. They learn about prices, why we shop and how money circulates. Spencer the Smart Spender™ also gives them tips to spend their money smartly!

Session 4: The wise shopper. In this fourth session, the children analyze what they have bought in the third session between needs and wants. They learn more tips on how to control expenses. They check how much money they have left and learn what parents spend their money on.

Session 5: Time to get a job! In this fifth session, the children explore the different ways of getting money. They also learn that spending less on a good deal… is not earning money. They apply for jobs, do them and earn money!

Session 6: What do banks do with money? In this sixth session, the children learn about the different forms of money. The Credit Cat™ explains them how a credit card works. They visit a virtual bank and learn about what a loan is and what interest is about.

Session 7: Let’s make more money! In this seventh session, the children run their own business and make profit! They also learn the difference between a salary and profit. They track how much money their business makes!

Session 8: Why should we save? In this eighth session, the children learn why it is important to keep money for later. They also learn how to save and the places to put money safely. They practice writing longer term goals to save for.

Session 9: Let’s plan our next adventure! In this ninth session, Spencer the Smart Spender™ helps the children plan their next stay at the Money Park™! Children learn how to write a simple budget. With a fixed sum at first, they choose the best way to have fun in the park without spending all their money.

Session 10: Let’s follow our money map! In this last session, the children use the budget they made in session 9 to control their expenses. They also learn useful tips on saving and managing money. We also review the main concepts of the ten sessions. The children brainstorm on the best way to apply the course to daily life. The children receive a certificate and material to help them practice their new knowledge.
