NGO- Pilot Training
Before implementing your programme, test it on a pilot group. Here is a quick check-list:
- Choose pilot participants
- Market your pilot
- Organise the logistics of pilot (training room, refreshments, ...)
- Prepare training materials
- Ask observer to take notes and photos
- Rehearse... and relax!
- Facilitate
- Take your own notes while you facilitate. You can easily "feel" what works well or doesn't.
- Pilot debrief with participants and observer: what worked well? What could be improved?
- Edit / fine-tune training
- Create several versions if you have slightly different target groups
Not sure how to organise a pilot group? What about take your colleagues as pilot group? If your target group is not literate, try to select a few people with a low literacy level. Mix genders and ages. You don't need to take a big group. 10-12 participants will be sufficient to test the training. If your organisation has some video equipment, use it to record the pilot.
