NGO- Training your trainers
Trainers are key to make your programme successful.
By experience, the best trainers are people with similar background as the target groups/or who frequently interact with them (example: social workers in grassroots organisations) who have attended a financial education programme, have implemented what they have learned, and they have seen the impact on their lives: higher savings, more in control of expenses, maybe they even have been able to buy an asset (house…). Why? Because they can explain with their own words, in simple and plain language, the basics of financial education. They can give down-to-earth examples. They have faced the same potential difficulties (lack of time, motivation…). The target groups will be able to identify to these trainers much more… and that’s the key of a successful programme. Good trainers are able to “inspire” by their example. And… they are experienced facilitators. They have learned how to facilitate interactive training. Training trainers take time- so if they know the participatory methods already, 80% of the training is done already- and we can focus on the finance education content. Download a trainer's profile.
