MM101 is the very first course on personal finance: it teaches the basics: - needs and wants and controlling spending,
- how loan works and the consequences of having debts,
- the main types of income,
- why saving is important and how,
- the reasons and basics of planning ahead
After attending MM101 (Money Matters Level 1), trainers will be able to teach basic personal finance courses and explain how to manage expenses, what a loan is and how interest works, the consequences of regular and irregular incomes, the reasons for saving and how anticipating expenses can help save money.
This online course is for trainers who have successfully attended MM101 (Money Matters level 1). In this course, we will use the basics of personal finance taught in MM101 and go further on topics such as: - prioritising expenses, identifying shopping alternatives,
- how to get out of debt, calculating a maximum debt level,
- identifying the link between work, skills and education, ways to increase income,
- where to save, addressing the challenges of saving,
- how to write a budget, plan for irregular incomes and use a budget to control expenses and save
Prerequisite: Money Matters Level 1
Money Matters levels 1 and 2 will have equipped trainers with the necessary technical knowledge to teach their clients. But how to change habits and behaviours with money? This third level online course will address the challenges and difficulties of managing money, such as: - changing mindsets about money management,
- how to communicate with spouses and children about money,
- moral values and money,
- how to build confidence in negotiating money related issues,
- overcoming fear of maths and numbers
- ethics
- putting money at its place: money is not all!
In this third level online course, we will learn about financial institutions (banks, credit unions and insurance) and the main products they offer and the jargon they use. Prerequesites: Money Matters levels 1 and 2
Soon to come: in this level 5 course, we will put money management into an even wider context: how managing money can interact with issues like managing health, staying fit and eating healthy food, preserving the environment, saving energy... This course will help trainers find new ideas on how to approach money management from a different angle. Prerequesites: Money Matters levels 1, 2 and 3
Soon to come: this online course will equip trainers who work in organisations helping migrant workers with the necessary skills and course ideas on specific migrant issues, such as managing remittance, resisting and managing family's expectations, currency issues, preparing the return to the home country, managing money and emotions with one's beloved ones despite the distance, etc...
